Are You Prepared For the Worst?

I'm generally an optimist when it comes to life. I try to stay focused on the good in the world, and normally the good seems to stay focused on me, too.

However, I am a firm believer that you have to act to get the best the world has to offer. Positive thinking alone won't get you there. And it's with that understanding that I want to briefly mention the current economic climate. Our financial system is a mess, and there are a lot of reasons for it, and a lot of blame to go around. The citizens of our country have their share of the blame, as does the government and the businesses involved.

Last week the government passed a 700 billion dollar bailout plan. 700 billion dollars. Now, I'm not posting this to argue about the validity of that decision. But the fact is, needed or not, that much money entering our financial system will cause inflation of an unheard of magnitude.

So I'm wondering how you are preparing for a recession or depression? What are your plans to generate extra income if you need to?
